Apology To a Non-Christian From a Christian

Dear Non-Christian,

This is an apology for any bad impression you may have had on Christianity, Christians, God, Jesus, or The Bible, because of tainted encounters with Christians.

I am sorry if you were judged, criticized or persecuted by us. God said we should be known by our love. To do everything with a filter of love.

“Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

When Christian’s are being condemning and critical towards non-Christians. That is not going to inspire them to believe in something bigger. Or see the light and come to God.

I really like this quote by Martin Luther King Jr.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King Jr. Click To Tweet

I know we are not perfect moral beings, just because we are Christian. God is. We are not supposed to be the judge of others. Who are we to judge, when we ourselves have been broken people? But God is just and holy and is worthy to judge.

We talk the talk. But do we walk the walk? Many of us are or have been hypocrites at some time or another. We point out the flaws we see in others. Then commit them ourselves or do something else just as bad. Maybe we put on a this face to look the Christian part but aren’t living the life we claim to preach.

The Bible tells us no one human is perfect except Jesus who is man and God. As Christians we need to make sure we are not being prideful and seeing ourselves as better. We need to make sure our hearts are right with God, humble ourselves and watch the things we say.

Words have power. Words have the power to build up or tear down. So I’m sorry if you have been unfairly torn down instead of built up.

I am sorry if you have not experienced kindness and love from us.

If we walked as Jesus did. Christians would be known for hating what is evil but mostly for our love towards others.

Jesus hung out with sinners, tax collectors, people that were looked down upon. He showed them love yet did not partake in anything wrong or evil.

I will say I have known many wonderful Christians who love God and love other people and it shows they are walking the walk.

Being a Christian doesn’t mean we are perfect, we still make mistakes.

It means we accepted God’s forgiveness through Jesus and have chosen to be in a relationship with him. We put God at the center of our lives. “And let Jesus take the wheel.”

We believe the only way to go to God’s home when we all die is to accept his gift of forgiveness, believe his word (The Bible), what Jesus accomplished on the cross, which enabled forgiveness and enter a relationship with him. Otherwise we hold onto the debts of any wrongs we have done that have yet to be paid and will be separated from him when we die for however long as our souls last. Which from the bible says eternity.

Yes we want to tell people the good news so others can experience this wholeness and freedom from the chains and punishment of sin. But we need to do this with a loving heart, not filled with condemnation.

So I am sorry if you experienced something else, other than what the gospel teaches us.

Your Move

If bad experiences with Christians is why you turned away from God. I invite you to open your heart to him again.

Don’t let broken people making wrong choices be the reason for you not knowing your Father in Heaven. You can know him through Jesus.

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

If you felt like you turned to God gave him a chance and he didn’t show up. Did you really seek him with all your heart and soul?

“But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29

In the end it is your choice.

Do You Know The Story of God’s Love?

It was written over thousands of years.

Different people at different times in history wrote separate writings.

All part of one story.

All inspired by God’s Holy Spirit.

All these writings were put together in one book called The Bible.

It is a story of betrayal, corruption, good verses evil, hope, redemption, forgiveness, new life but most of all LOVE.

COMING SOON Read my blog post: The Story of God’s Love. (Link will be active as soon as post is finished.)

A very basic summary of what the bible tells us in my own words.

But don’t take my word for it. You should check out the bible for yourself. It is filled with the spirit of God and will bless your life if you take it to heart.

God Bless,
